Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced in the state Assembly that six essential commodities would be distributed at free of cost to the holders of white ration cards.
The Chief Minister announced that half kilogram red gram, half kilo liter palm oil, one KG Bengal gram, half kilogram wheat and half kilo gram jaggery and 100 grams ghee, worth Rs.220, would be distributed to the white ration card holders, benefiting 1.30 crore families.This free gift of commodities would be addition to the 20 kg rice, one kg wheat and half kg sugar and two liter kerosene, which were being supplied on subsidized price.
He said the government had to bear an additional burden of Rs.287 crores to implement the free distribution of commodities. The government would procure 6,503 metric tonnes of red gram, 6,503 kilo liters of palm oil, 13,007 metric tonner of Bengal gram, 6503 metric tonnes of jaggery. 13,700 metric tonnes of wheat and 1,301 kilograms of ghee to implement that gift pack of commodities.
