High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) in Andharapradesh

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt of India had amended Rule 50 of CMVR, 1989 in year 2001 to Introduce High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) in INDIA.

HSRP was introduced:

  • To Curb & Control the Vehicle Thefts and Vehicle Borne Crime
  • To make the Registration Plates Uniform for different vehicles so that latest technologies like Number Plate Recognition can be introduced at later date
  • To regulate the issuance of Registration Plates so that illegal plates can not be used by miscreants
 This rule is being implemented in all states of the country under the directives of Supreme Court of India. High Security Number Plates (HSRP) is mandated to be affixed on all vehicles, irrespective of the vehicle being newly registered or is from the already registered vehicle population.


Key Outstanding Features of HSRP 

  • Laser Numbering
  • In case of rear registration plate, same to be fitted with a non-reusable snap lock to make it tamper proof
  • In front and rear registration plates, letter of county code in blue color is hot stamped
  • Letters ’county code’ in blue colour on extreme left centre of the plates
  • A Retro Reflective Film, bearing a verification inscription ’India’ at 45 degree inclination
  • Registration Number to be embossed on the plates
  • A Chromium based third registration plate in the form of sticker is to be attached to the wind shield, wherein the number of engine and chassis are indicated along with the name of registering authority.
